Privacy policy

Short version: we collect the minimum needed to sell you software and support it. We do not sell your data, and there are no advertising trackers on this site.

1. Who is responsible

Causey Audio, is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us at support@causeyaudio.com about anything on this page.

2. What we collect and why

  • Order details - your email address, name, the product bought, and the amount. Needed to deliver your licence and provide support. Kept as long as we are legally required to keep sales records.
  • Account details - your name, email address, and a hashed password. We never store your password itself, only a one-way hash of it.
  • Payment details - handled entirely by Stripe. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and the last four digits of the card. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Support messages - what you send us through the contact form, plus your email address and IP address. Used to answer you and to prevent spam.
  • Download logs - which licence downloaded what, and when. Used to enforce download limits and to help when a link fails.
  • Server logs - standard web logs including IP address and browser type, kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.

3. What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Ever.
  • We do not run advertising trackers, analytics pixels, or third-party ad cookies.
  • We do not add you to a mailing list because you bought something. Marketing email is opt-in only, and every one has an unsubscribe link.

4. Cookies

This site uses one cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in to your account. It is removed when you sign out or when the session expires, and the site works without it if you never sign in. Stripe may set its own cookies during checkout for fraud prevention - see the Stripe privacy policy.

5. Who else processes your data

  • Stripe - payment processing and fraud prevention.
  • Mailgun - sending order confirmations and replies to support messages.
  • Our hosting provider - stores the site and its database.

Each is bound to handle the data only on our instructions. We do not share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

6. How long we keep things

  • Order and licence records: as long as required for tax and accounting, typically 7 years.
  • Account records: until you ask us to delete the account.
  • Support messages: up to 2 years, so we have context if you write again.
  • Server and contact-form logs: up to 90 days.

7. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as salted one-way hashes. Download links are single-purpose tokens that expire. Access to the database is limited to what the site itself needs. No system is perfect, but we do not keep data we do not need, which is the most effective protection there is.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • send you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete your account and associated data;
  • stop sending you marketing email.

Email support@causeyaudio.com and we will act within 30 days. We may need to keep sales records even after deleting an account, because tax law requires it.

If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have these rights by statute, and you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Children

This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

Causey Audio operates from the United States, and our processors may store data there. If you buy from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US under appropriate safeguards.

11. Changes

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it, and material changes are noted on this page.
